Just a brief post today as there’s not much to report. We had a late start and then headed to Tokyo Station to catch the bullet train. The ticket system was very confusing at both ends, but the ride itself was what I wanted. Looking out the window is a little like a tour through Japan on fast forward. Below are a couple of videos that give an idea of the view through the countryside and through a city. Then I’ve included a few pictures of interesting or beautiful scenery.

We arrived at our hotel at about 2:30 and then headed out to get lunch. Having missed lunchtime we couldn’t find anywhere open so we went to a Familymart (miniature supermarket) and grabbed a few things to eat in our hotel room.
After eating and a bit of relaxing we took a long walk to Nishiki Market. Hayley found some beautiful things there. I couldn’t find much, but I did get some fun cat lollies and there were some interesting sights.

Back at the hotel we discovered they offer free saki. So Hayley and I left the boys in the room and headed down for some drinks. It wasn’t the best saki in the world, but it was free, and it was just very nice to have the chance to sit and chat over drinks.
Tomorrow we have a full day planned with a railway museum in the morning, a 400-year-old fortress in the afternoon, and then a geisha district in the evening.
